Second citizenship: a timely decision
In Russian legislation, two concepts are clearly separated: dual citizenship and second citizenship. It seems like it’s the same thing – but it’s not like that at all.
Dual citizenship is possible if appropriate agreements are concluded between the countries. Russia has such an agreement only with Tajikistan.
The second citizenship is the presence of a person with two passports, according to which he is an American citizen in the USA, and a citizen of the Russian Federation in Russia. The second passport can be almost any one: Israeli, and Kazakh, and European, etc.
There are several ways to get a second citizenship. We will not consider the fact of birth on the territory of another state or kinship with a citizen of this country: it is almost impossible to manage such matters.
