Residence permit in the USA: how the EB-5 program work now
Investment immigration to the United States under the EB-5 program has now been restored and is fully available to Russians. The United States did not restrict Russian citizens in the implementation of this program. There may be nuances and details in paperwork that are worth knowing in advance – but EB-5 can still be implemented.
The immigration program for investors was updated in March 2022 and remains unchanged for now.
What do you need to know about the EB-5 program?
- the minimum investment amount is $800,000 for TEA projects and $1,050,000 for other projects. The final amount of funds invested depends on the location of the project. The minimum amount can be spent in rural areas;
- investment options are diverse. These can be commercial real estate funds – 95% of investors choose them. However, you can invest in your own business, and in the purchase of a franchise;
- the investor must confirm the legality of receiving funds and the absence of a criminal record;
- the investor receives a green card together with his spouse and children under the age of 21. After five years of owning a green card, it can be exchanged for US citizenship.
Obtaining a green card can take from 2 to 4 years. You can wait for a decision both in the country with a valid visa, and abroad.
The EB-5 program involves the payment of state fees for legal services and administrative fees of the Regional Center.
